The View From Here

I started my "do good" journey yesterday by being a hero and donating blood :) There was a local blood drive blitz happening and I wanted to be a part of it. My mother and I made a trip to one of the many locations set up and gave our blood to save a life! My view from our experience was amazing. Many people showed up in the 2 hours we were there, some even donating double. There were a ton of volunteers from the American Red Cross setting up tables and chairs, manning the canteen area, taking info and even watching my child! I was blessed to be able to share the experience with my mother and for the good feeling I have knowing that my donation may save a life.

If you are a healthy individual and feel like you can make a difference, please don't hesitate to find your local American Red Cross and donate. They are always in need of blood, especially the rare types. Just think about how many lives were saved yesterday by the many people who came out to the 3 locations in a 12 hour period. I made a difference, you can too!

Sunday FunDay

Getting to know YOU

1. If you could host a Reality TV show, which one would it be?
Amazing Race, most definitely. I love that show! It'd be an easy way to travel around the world :) and even get paid for it. I'd love to be a contestant on that show too
2. Do you put your seat belt on before or after you start the car?
It's a little bit of both. I sometimes let it go until it starts warning me that I'm unbuckled. Usually I put it on between starting the car and putting it in reverse
3. Shave or hair removal cream?
If the hair removal cream was permanent, I'd be all up for that. For now, I'm shaving.
4. What's your favorite feature in a house?
A fireplace is always nice. But my favorite feature in a house would be that the whole house is mine! One day that'll happen...
5. What is your favorite "Fall" scent?
As weird as it may sound, I'm all about the smell of burning leaves. If I could I would bottle it up and make a candle! There's just something about the smell.
6. What tv show are you looking forward to seeing the most this Fall??
Grey's Anatomy...of course! I'm ready for all my favorite shows to return, though..I'm tired of seeing reruns :)
7. Personal Shopper or Personal Chef?
Personal Chef who likes to shop...haha I'd hire a personal chef to help me eat healthier. Then after I lose the weight, he or she could go out and help me shop for new, smaller clothes! Isn't that genius?!
8. What is the first word that comes to mind when you think of "Fall"?
Leaves...I think of the leaves changing and all the wonderful colors out there. I love the colors of orange, red and yellow...how they surround you! I think it's a good color combo :)

Find Myself

These past couple of weeks have been the pretty hard on me. I'm beaten down, but not yet past need repair....and I'm thankful for that. I know I can be a strong person and I will get through this. But why does it have to hurt so bad? Why do we say such cruel things? I really need to find myself....

I need to do something good with my life. I'm doing my best with raising our son, at least I like to think I am. I tried my best at being a great wife. Now I just need to DO my best in being me! But who am I?

I'm a mother, a daughter...a sister, an aunt....a grand daughter, a niece.
I'm a Christian. I'm a lover and a fighter. I'm a believer!

I'm a high school drop out, with a diploma, however.
I have no desire to go back to school, hence the drop out.
----Does that make me less of a role model....a good mom? I don't see it that way

I have desires, hobbies, dreams...but where will they lead me?
I need to do something good with my life...I want to do good!

I've recently purchased "Eat Pray Love" and I'm hoping to start it this weekend. I'm hoping it's the kind of book I need right now. Call it self-help, call it motivation. I need this.

In the next couple of years, things are going to change drastically. I'm hoping that I change, too. The desires and dreams I hope to make a reality.

I would love to do something for charity...whether it be to run a race for a disease or donate.
I want to sponsor a Compassion child and share the extra love I have with them.
I want to be a teacher again and help children learn and grow. It's the best part!
I want to start photographing again and include scriptures with the photographs...
Nothing is better than seeing God's handy work through a verse and nature!

With an ending approaching, another book begins. I'm working on the chapters now and I'm hoping for the Happily Ever After this time.

But first, I need to find myself!

Getting to Know Me

Getting to know YOU

1. What kind of athlete has the hottest body?
Hhmmmm, baseball players cheat with steroids :) Golfers are usually older :( I'd say Football players!
2. Are you a planner or a procrastinator?
I'm a planned procrastinator...it's in my blood. Well, not really. I just get really slack when it comes to important things, unfortunately!
3. Diet or regular (soda)?
Regular soda, if I drank it...I'm a water girl all the way! I think diet tastes super nasty for some reason.
4. What's your one "must have" for Fall?
For fall this year, I'm gonna say a lightweight scarf. I never have attempted the look, so we'll try it this year. Of course, you can't forget the boots too :) But in SC you don't really need either until winter. Fall is just an extension of summer.....summer falling away LOL
5. What's your favorite fast food restaurant?
Does Subway count? I could eat there everyday. Although, I can't forget to stop by McD's for my addiction, Mocha Frappes!!
6. What do you think is the sexiest profession for a guy?
I'll get back to you on that one :) Sexy can be smart or it can be dirty...you choose
7. Did you wear braces?
I most certainly did and I'm very thankful for my orthodontist for correcting my horrible teeth
8. Would you rather have a guy that's super sexy or kind?
I'm with Keely on this one...Kind is Sexy

Friday the 13th!!!!

I can't believe another Friday is here, it feels like last weekend just ended. I swear this month is flying by. Here's another 5QF brought to you by Mama M :)

1. Have you ever visited another country?
Yes I have! I was lucky enough to be a student ambassador and travel two summers in a row. I've been to Australia and Europe. I loved both trips very much, I learned alot and matured with those experiences. I would love to travel back to both one day!!!

2. Where is the strangest place you have ever been?
Ya know, I can't really think of a strange place...I guess that could be a good thing HaHa

3. What is your favorite season?
I prefer fall, not too hot and not too cold...the leaves are changing and I love Thanksgiving, to Give Thanks for what we have

4. What one song will always cheer you up?
Alot of songs right now cheer me up, they give me hope...I'm in a situation where I need that right now. There are a few songs I'm listening to because the lyrics really hit the spot, they speak to me!

5. What Disney character do you resemble most?
Hhhmmmm, I have no idea. There are tons of Disney Characters out there, too many options! I love them all :)

And then there's the Friday Fives with Just Me and My Life

Just Me and My Life

FIVE FAVORITE WEBSITES

~Of course I love Blogger...I'm here daily catching up on my blog roll and trying to get my blog caught up!
~ Then there's the stalker friendly site, Facebook :) A place where you can be friends with the people you really hated in high school and "stalk" them and a place where you can also learn some strange habits of your true friends ;)
~ Craigslist! I'm always there either looking for some good free stuff, checking out job listings, or searching for some cheap items I can turn into masterpieces!
~Inspirational Blogs, Yes YOU! I love to read certain blogs, ones that give me inspiration in my daily life. Whether it be crafting, religion, families, home decor...I'm always stopping by these sites to get my daily dose of hope ("one day I'll have that").
~Cafemom. I haven't visited this site in a while, but I'm going to get back into it! It's a great place to meet new friends and learn more about the abilities and disabilities of your child...maybe even learn more about hobbies etc. It's a fun place to be!

Three years have gone by...

Three years ago, a baby boy was placed into my arms and my life changed....I became a Mother! I knew right there that I'd have the best and most loving relationship with this little being for the rest of my life. A mother's love for her son is unique, nothing could ever match it. I know that one day I may lose him as his heart is handed to his wife, but I'm going to treasure the moments and hold onto him until then.

We had a little get together for him yesterday, nothing too big or fancy. I knew that the easiest way to celebrate him was to make it more about HIM than the decor :) Of course I had to throw in a Lightening McQueen here and a Mater there, and it made my day to see the giddyness of my child when he saw his cake and balloons. I've never seen him so happy!! I don't think it's truly set in yet, but my handsome little boy is loved by so many and I am so thankful. I do wish things were a little different for him nowadays, but not a day will go by without telling him how much he is loved and spoiled. I even promise not to spoil him too much...but he's Mommy's little boy!

Three years ago, my heart no longer beat inside of me...but crawled and will forever walk beside me! A little bit of that heart aches today as my child ages another year. Time seems to be flying by and K is growing up too fast.
Three years ago, I was staring at ten fingers and ten toes and rubbing the fuzz that was on his tiny, precious head. Today, those fingers are counting and those toes are growing and he glows with his shiny blonde locks. His words are a plenty and his play time is full of imagination. He's not so tiny any more, my baby is past 3 feet tall. I would like to say that I'd love to keep him small forever, but I can't wait to watch him grow and learn....and love!!

Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday

FRIDAY FIVES!

Here's Five Question Friday, brought to you by My Little Life
1. Are you a neat sleeper or a messy sleeper?
I'd like to say I'm a neat sleeper. More or less, I go from neat to messy. I fall asleep with the covers perfect on my, nice and straight...and I wake up with the sheet all tangled at my feet and the comforter half on me. Whatever! Either way, I enjoy my sleep :)
2. Fill in the blank. I wish I was more ________________.
Confident! I definitely lack that, unfortunately
3. What is something that you wish you had been warned about?
Haha, this could go so many ways...but I'll take the nice way out....and not say anything at all
4. What was the best thing you ever found at a garage sale/flea market?
I don't think I've ever found anything good at either. Its always junk where I am, which is a complete bummer! I did find some good treasures at a thrift store though....love those places.
5. If you could have any meal brought to you right now, what would it be?
Chili's Crunchy Chicken Crispers meal with veggies and a choco chip molten cake on the side...total yumminess right there!! Excuse me while I drool....
--------------------------------------------

This weeks Friday Five is...
5 Things You Miss About Being A Kid!
Brought to you by Just Me and My Life...

Number 1 answer for this would be the IRRESPONSIBILITY!
No bills to pay, no one to take care of but myself....all fun and play!
The endless play-barbies, blocks, bike riding...it never ends
My imagination! I always wished for a Happy Ever After
No drama...at least not the adult kind. There were a few tears shed over unshared toys...haha
The energy to do whatever all day!!

**Dont forget to enter the Wonderfully Wordy giveaway below. It ends Monday!**

Letting Go...

As mentioned before in a previous post, I'm having issues with the blog. I'm also having some issues in my life. I'm at a point where it's time to just let go of some things. I can't really go into detail at this moment though. I've come to a standstill and I'm stressing and grieving...and everything in between. This is not where I saw myself. I never wanted to be where I am today. I love my life and everyone in it, but sometimes you just have to do what's best for others and yourself. I've matured a lot, some people may not see that, in the last few months. I'm quite proud of myself and the things I accomplished, however, I feel like myself is to blame for everything that has gone wrong in my life. I know that I could do better, that I can do better. I will do better..eventually. Right now, it's about being the best mother...daughter....sister...grand-daughter...and aunt and worry about things falling into place later. I know that God wouldn't put me in a situation I couldn't handle. I have the strength to get through this and I will!! Strength is taking a look at where you are, and from there, getting to where you want to be, no matter how hard it is or how long is takes to get you there....
I promise to not be such a Debbie Downer, for I have other things to rejoice about. I'm letting go and letting God as I usually do. My baby boy is turning 3 on Monday and that's something to definitely celebrate. I wish things were different for him, but I know that one day he will understand. He's still young and it's time to party and celebrate his life! I can't wait to watch him prosper in the years ahead...my little man is growing up to fast. I'm never letting go of him!
